On the Farm
On the Farm - ups and downs...The planting is almost finished and now strawberries are in full swing. Work on the farm is at full-speed ahead and the market is bustling with activity. With our new website, things are looking up as we move forward into summer.
Even when things seem to be going well, sometimes we are hit with the unexpected.
Today, we experienced a storm riddled with large, marble-sized hail. The extent to which to crops were damaged is yet unknown, but there is definitely a worrisome feeling around the farm. We have learned from past experience that hail can be devastating.
We are doing the best we can to move forward under the circumstances.
Let's think positively now.
We will look forward to things to come such as our Fireman's Recognition Day next weekend! (let's hope the weather remains calm for that!) We are showing our appreciation to the incredible Volunteers from our three local Fire Companies with an afternoon of family activities. Check out our homepage for all the information.
There will be a chicken BBQ - always tasty from those Fireman, we all know that...
The water-ball competition will be something to behold! - I remember seeing one when I was small and I loved watching the huge spray of the hose burst out with such force as that big orange ball moved across the line so fast...
There will be tug-o-war in the backyard - I think we're even going to put together a Lagoner Farms team - Let's see what we've got!
Live music, kids activities, bubbles - tons of fun...
The evening will be topped off with a Fireworks display above the orchard! (I think it'll be the latest my 2-yr.old has ever stayed up! - at least we're going to try...)
I know the day will be a success for the firemen - and I hope we have a great turn-out! (Don't forget about the Homegrown Strawberries!!!)
Until next time...
